Let the hands do the work!

Creativity has never been my forte and I haven't done any handicrafts for at least the past decade. So after some influence from Dawn, I decided to try doing something special for Isaac on that special day.

I've been walking past this shop called Print where they sell pretty paper and fabric back writing materials, some craft accessories, etc but never once did I purchase anything in that shop. Firstly, I'd never thought of doing anything creative cos I wan't that romantic, artistic sort. Secondly, I'd rather spent my monies on clothes, shoes or anything other things that pamper myself.

It was then I came by Print again last week and decided to pop in. Seeing pretty things kicks up my adrenalin to spend. On the other hand, I haven't thought of what to buy for him, so why not doing something out of the pretty materials myself? >< I spent more than half an hour in that shop choosing, mixing and matching. Trust me, I've never stayed in a shop for more than like 15 mins unless I'm queuing up to get into the fitting room. But choosing something nice to get for your loved ones.... you know what I mean?

The most amazing part is I bothered to go to Bras Basah Complex to look for more craft accessories to complement the photo scrapbook I was doing. (I hadn't been there for like, since high school?) I was fascinated at the huge range of stationery and art materials that were available in that building. The worst part is I've got to climb the stairs to the upper levels in my high-heeled pumps! My feet were sore and wobbly by then I reached the fifth story. Can't image the lifts there doesn't serve every levels!

Okays, no more blabberings and here's a glimpse of the photo scrapbook I've done...

Nothing fantastic though but it's my virgin attempt! And I'm glad he appreciates it. (It's done in like within 5 hours??)

I shall start doing something like this more often. Though tiring, it's really FUN!

A Fruitful Sight on National Day
Friday, August 10, 2007 8:33 PM

Our National Day came and gone in a jiffy and left no much of a holiday mood for myself. The only thing that left a deep impression was the crowd and fireworks! I met up with Rach that late afternoon at Marina Square hoping to witness the fireworks.

Dinner at Pasta de Waraku was so-so. Nothing fantastic compared to the Japanese resturant which served superb authentic Japanese culinary. We both ordered our choice of pastas and shared a glass of grape drink. Did I mention grape? Yes, I did and that was what's stated in the menu. I believe all of you know what grape is right? Check the dictionary if you don't. Anyway, what was served was grapefruit drink and it tasted awwwwful! Pardon me. I don't fancy sour drinks, not lime juice or lemonade either. But the kind manager was good enough to offer us a $4 apology voucher, apart from the $19 food voucher as a new launched outlet promo. Now we can have a decent free meal on our next visit! I didn't think of going back there anymore... but for the sake of the free vouchers, why not? I'm a Singaporean afterall... *giggles*

After 3 hours of early dinner and some light shopping, we found most spots around the mall packed with people. The police set up barriers refraining people from leaving the area to another and we were like 'Oh Sh*t!'. Our mood dampened from all the walking and the human traffic. In the end, we decided to give the scenic view a pass and carry on our shopping. It was like God's will that we must watch the fireworks, we found an area with a good-enough view. We finally were able to rest our sore feet sitting on the ground. -_-"

That day, I saw an incident which I found rather amusing though. Probably we are already in the 21st century, we are equipped with high-tech equipments and solutions as compared to the third world countries. Foreign workers from the third world who are new to our countries find these high-techs alien or maybe even as a danger to them!

A bangladeshi worker, who was having his public holiday off work, was trying to have his go on the escalator. I was annoyed initially when I saw him and 2 other friends blocking the pathway of the escalator in the crowded mall. But noticed another group waiting at the bottom on the escalator, seemingly to be their friends, laughing at them. Then I realised the 3 bangladeshi were afraid of stepping onto the moving stairs! I let out a hearty laugh and Rach gave me a stare.

....

I know I'm bad. But it's really hilarious seeing their horrid expressions on their faces. Come'on there's a staircase just next to them!

Anyways, the fireworks was splendid! Good work, Singapore! Happy Birthday!
